A few weeks ago I wrote about a pet peeve of mine, the "Fab Finds Under $500" style of article in which is showed a cropped T-shirt for $450. Well I would like to give credit to Bazaar who had a really terrific article-dresses and jackets at prices and from stores that people aren't Tom Ford's cousin or that aren't in the top 1 percent of earners could shop in. And please don't get me wrong I am in no way bashing Bergdorf or couture shoppers-I am desperate to be one, but if you are going to put forth your under $500 dressing ideas then make it worthwhile. $168 dresses from Ann Taylor and $358 jackets from Elizabeth and James from Bloomingdales + a few aspirational Chanel and Barney's pieces-this is exactly right and I wanted to compliment Bazaar for doing it.

I find myself thinking about the black and white polka dot dress from Ann Taylor...so after I went to Barneys and added to my Prada and Lanvin collections (go shop there-most things are marked down once but they are taking an extra 33% off the sale prices!) I went across the street to the Flagship Ann Taylor and bought the polka dot dress which is very pretty, very flattering, all silk, and will probably be perfect for Rosh Hashanah 2010 (which falls out 2 days after Labor Day-yuck). Since I'm trying to be careful about shopping now I left the store without buying or even looking at anything else. I was finished with all my plans at about 5:00 yesterday and none of my friends was available for an impromptu coffee and my husband wasn't finished working until 6 so I wandered back into Barneys (I had not looked at their private label floor in my first foray in the store, being dazzled by the Lanvin sale, but found nothing that I liked in my size) so found myself back at Ann Taylor. They were offering 40% off your total purchase yesterday only so I wandered around and found a short-sleeve, crew neck, fitted, jersey dress that was marked down and the 40 off so I bought that too-but then I very carefully left.
